Cellphones and money taken during Stardust Hotel robbery

When the complainant requested to search the suspects, they pulled out their guns and ordered him to keep quiet.

The Stardust Hotel was robbed by five suspects last Wednesday evening, says Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The complainant says he was working as a security guard at the hotel when five suspects walked in.

Three of the suspects approached him, while the other two remained standing in front of the hotel.

When the complainant requested to search the suspects, they pulled out their guns and ordered him to keep quiet.

The suspects then searched the complainant and took his two cellphones, before he ran to the bathroom.

All the clients in the hotel were made to lie down on the floor, before their money and cellphones were taken.

The total number of cellphones and money stolen from clients is unknown at this stage.

Approximately R1 800 was taken from the till, where the cashier was also made to lie down.

One of the clients was hit with a beer bottle on the head and he was taken to Far East Rand Hospital for treatment.

No shots were fired during the robbery and the suspects were driving a silver hatchback polo.
