Two guards were held up at the Dersley Dumping Site by an armed suspect on Sunday afternoon, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.
The guards were inside the guardroom when they were approached by a suspect armed with a gun.

The suspect held the guards at gunpoint, before taking their cellphones and pepper spray.
He also instructed the guards to take off their boots and demanded cash from them, before kicking both victims, firing a shot into the air and then fled.

The guards were not injured.
A member of the public, who came to dump rubbish, took one of the guards to a nearby shopping centre to call the police.
