Department supplies the pill

The Gauteng Department of Health has issued a statement commenting that they have moved to ensure that all the clinics, especially in Ekurhuleni, have stocks of contraceptive pills.

The Department’s Medical Supply Depot has started delivering packets of Nordette pills and we are expecting 441 000 packets of Triphasil pills to be distributed from today (Thursday, August 8).

“By the end of this week, all clinics in Gauteng should have sufficient quantities of contraceptive pills,” says Gauteng Health spokesperson, Simon Zwane.

He added that the Department is hopeful that the acquired stock will bridge the gap until the contracted supplier is able to meet the demand.

Following the deliveries, the situation will be monitored daily and clinics experiencing low stock levels will be restocked.

The Department urges clinics that are still experiencing challenges to contact District Pharmacist so that stock may be delivered to them.
