Car hijackings on the rise in KwaThema

“Unsuspecting victims were reportedly attacked by a group of two to three men at robots with a pepper spray and dragged them out of their cars.”

KwaThema – Police are warning the residents of KwaThema about the increase of hijackings in the area in recent weeks.

This comes after a number of cases were reported to the police by residents.

KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza urged residents to be vigilant while driving in the area.

“Community must be alert of their surroundings, especially at intersections such as robots and stop signs. They are urged to roll up their windows and keep doors locked when approaching the intersections.

“Unsuspecting victims were reportedly attacked by a group of two to three men at robots with a pepper spray and dragged them out of their cars.

“Swift reaction by the police led to the recovery of one of the vehicles in Free State and three suspects were arrested,” Khoza explains.

Khoza urged residents to consider maximising security features in their cars to secure them from theft or carjacking.
