Flooded subway used as dumping site

"People are mugged on the railway everyday, and women get harassed.

The subway that runs through Springs extension has been flooded and is being used as a dumping site.

Resident Michael Yiannakis says the subway has been flooded for three or four months now and nothing has been done.

The flooded subway is littered with plastic bottles, polystyrene boxes and other refuse.

The area surrounding the subway is also being used as a dumping site with a heap of trash.

Yiannakis says: “We have gone to the metro but they never give us any answers.

“They sent an inspector at one point, but he said there was noting he could do.”

As a result of this flooding, residents are forced to walk across the railway, where regular muggings take place.

“People are not safe here.

Yiannakis also alleges that one of the buildings at the railway is being used as a homeless shelter.
