Three men arrested on various charges at Palm Springs

Dr Kristen was later identified as a man from Congo who informed officers that he has qualifications from Congo, but couldn't produce the documents to the officers on scene.

The police arrested three suspects on Wednesday morning after receiving a tip-off about an illegal activity that was taking place at one of the surgeries in Palm Springs.

Upon arriving at the surgery, the police requested to speak to the doctor in charge.

They then noticed a man who introduced himself as Dr Kristen. He wore a white coat and had a blue stethoscope on his neck and around his shoulders.

Also, at the surgery was another man who was busy drawing blood from a patient.

A third suspect was busy dispensing medication to the patients.

Dr Kristen was later identified as a man from Congo who informed officers that he has qualifications from Congo, but couldn’t produce the documents to the officers on scene.

The second suspect alleged that he is a qualified bleeder from Nigeria.

The third suspect informed police he was working as an admin at the surgery.

Suspects were taken to Springs Client Service Centre at the Springs Police Station for detention for various charges.

Charges included contravening section 17 (1) (a) Health Professions Act 56 of 1974 (practising as a medical practitioner while not registered with HPCSA), and contravening Medicines and Related Substances Act no.101 of 1965 Sec 22A (dispensing medication while not registered as a pharmacist and Sec 22C for dispensing medication without a licence).
