Storm causes damage in Selection Park

The branch did not damage the gate, but the electric fence was severely damaged.

A large branch fell on Chris Jonck’s house’s gate when a storm knocked a tree over near his property on October 26.
The branch did not damage the gate, but the electric fence was severely damaged.
Jonck says: “When I came out after the storm, I saw the branch had fallen on my gate and it looked like a lot of damage had been caused.”
Jonck called Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), fearing that the electric fence might cause a fire.
When DEMS arrived they helped clear the branches from the road and Jonck’s house.
Luckily for Jonck, a family member who was present when the event occurred was able to temporarily fix the electric fence.
When Jonck asked DEMS who will help with the damages, they said it was the responsibility of the Parks Department.
The property opposite Jonck’s suffered a similar fate with the upper portion of a large tree falling on the roof, also damaging the electric fence.
The owner of this property was unavailable for comment.
Jonck wants to know from the metro who exactly is responsible for the damage caused to his property.
The metro has failed to reply at time of publication.
