Couple loses car after visit to funeral parlour

While the suspects were placing the victims inside a small office another client walked in.

A couple was robbed of their car on Saturday afternoon after a visit to a funeral parlour in Wright Park turned ugly, says Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The complainant was assisting clients when three suspects entered the building and asked about funeral cover.

One of the suspects pulled out a firearm from under his shirt, pointed it at the complainant and demanded money.

She handed R9 000 over to the suspects.

While the suspects were placing the victims inside a small office another client walked in.

One suspect held him at gunpoint and another suspect went outside and asked the client’s wife, who was waiting in the car, for the keys to the vehicle.

She told him that her husband had the keys.

He took her into the parlour, took her watch and locked her and her husband with the others in the small office.

The suspects took the camera system and fled the scene using the couple’s car.

The stolen car is a blue Jetta 4 with the registration number NZP 125 GP valued at R45 000.

The suspects also fled with cellphones valued at R1 000 and jewellery worth R600.

No injuries were reported and no shots were fired during the robbery.
