Doctor and patients left unharmed after armed robbery

When police arrived on scene, they had to force the bathroom door open to let the complainant and the patient out.

Three armed men robbed a doctor’s consulting rooms in Selcourt last Monday evening, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The complainant, doctor, was at his consulting rooms when one man entered the practice and pretended to be a patient and waited for the doctor.

He them promptly got up and walked out.

A second suspect then entered the practice and was armed.

He pointed his gun at the patients, which included one child, and took them to another room and took their cellphones.

The suspect fetched the complainant and took him to the bathroom.

While the suspects were busy, another patient walked in and the suspects held him up at gunpoint, telling him that it is an armed robbery.

The suspects then took his cellphone and wallet and removed the R1 200 in it.

They then locked the last patient up in the bathroom as well.

When police arrived on scene, they had to force the bathroom door open to let the complainant and the patient out.

Suspects took R300 petty cash, a cellphone, a tablet, a computer and a computer screen to the total value of R15 000.

No shots were fired during the robbery.
