No hot water for Presidentia resident

"We have no caretaker, so no one is sure where they can report their problems," says Raats.

The geyser problem at Presidentia are still ongoing and very little has been done since the Advertiser last reported on these problems.

Presidentia is a municipal housing project where mostly elderly residents on pension reside.

Resident Sandra Raats has been without hot water since April of this year.

Raats went the entire winter without hot water.

The solar geyser is still functional, but takes up to three days to warm enough water for a bath.

According to Raats, Presidentia has no caretaker and therefore residents have to take these issues to the metro themselves.

“People here don’t have transport.

“They are sick and find it difficult to walk – they can’t just leave and go to the metro’s office,” says Raats.

According to Raats, a meeting was held earlier in the year at Presidentia where residents were promised that all their problems would be attended to, but nothing came of it.

“Nothing gets done here, they don’t deliver on their promises.

“We have no caretaker, so no one is sure where they can report their problems,” says Raats.

Raats’s outside light is also broken and this makes it dangerous for her to walk at night.

The metro failed to respond at time of publication.
