Goods worth R76 000 stolen during Selection Park house robbery

Suspects fled in a white VW Polo, registration HF 31 GH GP.

Suspects got away with goods valued at R76 000 after a house robbery in Selection Park last Tuesday morning.

Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the victim was busy cleaning the house when she heard some banging sounds coming from outside.

When she went to the main bedroom to peep through the window, she saw two suspects, each with a crowbar, standing by the gate.

The gate, which was locked, was opened and a white sedan reversed into the yard.

Seeing them, the victim ran into the other bedroom and locked herself in.

From the bedroom, the victim could hear the suspects breaking the sitting room door, then the door of the bedroom she was hiding in.

One suspect, armed with a firearm and a crowbar, told her not to scream and covered her head with a blanket.

She could hear that they were busy in the house. After a while she heard screams from the outside and the suspects talked among themselves that they should leave.

She was later assisted by the neighbours.

Two TVs worth R14 000, two cameras worth R12 0000 and a small safe containing jewellery to the value of R50 000 were taken from the house.

The victim was not injured and no shots were fired.
