At present there are two groups of protesters, with some at the Daggafontein Mega City Project and others in Nuffield.

A group of protesters has gathered today at the site of the Daggafontein Mega City Project, where they are demanding jobs from the metro.
Protesters claim they have been handing in their CVs but have not been appointed.
Ward councillor Shadow Shabangu says: “They are pushing for employment on the projects.
“They are demanding jobs from the contractors, but they can’t provide jobs as of now.
“We are encouraging them to bring their CVs to the site so that the employers can get back to them.”
He adds: “It is more politically motivated than anything else. They just want to stir things up.”

Springs CPF chairman Barend van Heerden says in Nuffield there is a criminal element to the protest.
“By the Nuffield Scrapyard there were some protesters who were trying to steal items out of the trucks and steal material from the scrapyard, and the EMPD had to fire rubber bullets at them,” says van Heerden.
When The Addie tried to get to the scene, we were turned away by the police as it was unsafe.
