I Love Springs and Hope Hill Church want to make a difference

The event is part of a wider effort by I Love Springs and the church to bring hope back to the community.

Hope Hill Church and I Love Springs worked together to provide blankets and jackets to needy residents in Springs on Tuesday night.

The event took place in the parking lot of Meat Mecca, where members of the community and the church volunteered to help.

Soup was also being prepared to warm up those who came to seek help.

The event is part of a wider effort by I Love Springs and the church to bring hope back to the community.

I Love Springs works closely with Hope Hill Church and Badger Holdings to make these events possible.

I Love Springs organised the event through Facebook, where they asked residents to donate blankets and jackets.

Many residents were eager to lend a helping hand, while others donated funds.

Sarah-Jane Grieve of I Love Springs says: “We want people to be proud of and love Springs again.

“There are many people in need in this community and we want to show them that there is hope for them.

“We were actually quite surprised by how many people came forward to help.”

Grieve adds: “I Love Springs was birthed out of the church; many people working here today are ministers of the church.”

Michelle van Niekerk says: “We want to make this more personal; we sit down with the people afterwards and speak with them, find out their story and tell them that there are people who care about them.”

I Love Springs is heavily involved with the community and plan on making these events a regular occurrence.
