Woman arrested trying to sell stolen gun on 6th Street

Police also found the gun was stolen from a house robbery in Brakpan last month and was owned by a local security company.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday after trying to sell a stolen gun, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The police were tipped off by members of the public who alleged the woman was trying to sell a gun on 6th Street.

Upon arriving on the scene, the police arrested the woman who was carrying a 357 Magnum.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed the woman did not have a license for the gun, nor a permit to carry it.

Police also found the gun was stolen from a house robbery in Brakpan last month and was owned by a local security company.

The woman’s bail application was due to be heard on Monday morning.
