A victory for the SOB

The Old Boys are currently tied up in the first place with the Rovers.

 

The Springs Old Boys senior team played against the Benoni Northerns at the Springs Old Boys soccer fields on Saturday and they won the game with six goals to two putting them on top of the Eastern’s League Football Association’s log.

The Old Boys are currently tied up in the first place with the Rovers.

Both teams have 26 points and have a goal difference of 20.

SOB coach Bruce Stones says, “We started a bit slowly. At one stage of the game we were drawing one all but once we found ourselves we clicked into gear and we started to show dominance.

“Overall a good victory with a 6-2 win.

“We now focus on a tough game away at Olympia next week.”

The goals for the SOB were scored by Katleho Thage who scored a penalty, Manelisi Mawela scored two goals, one of which was a header from across, Karabo Mokoena scored the best goal of the game from long distance, Katlego Mokgola also scored a goal and Ricardo Correira scored with a header from a corner.

The man of the match was Karabo Mokoena for his overall performance.

The team’s captain Ntsika Hlongwane says, “It was a good game coming back from a poor performance from the team.

“The win will motivate us and will put us in a better position of winning the league.

“We will continue to be on form focusing on the upcoming games.”
