Springs Country Club’s Annual Super 12 competition tees off

Springs Country Club started its eighth annual Super 12 competition on April 27, which is one of the big draw cards they have each year.

 

Springs Country Club started its eighth annual Super 12 competition on April 27 and will continue for seven months.

Saturday’s games were the first of this year’s tournament.

Club captain Deon Kotze says: “There are 12 teams and eight of them will be moving to the quarter-final.

“We make up teams based on the rugby, such as the Stormers, Sharks, Lions and more.”

“There are two groups, six on each side. Saturday was the first round where only six of the 12 teams were competing against each other.

“The top four teams will be moving to the quarter-finals.

The results of the competition’s first round are:

Winners: Stefan Prinsloo and Tobie Truter – 45 points

Second: Gawie Greeff and Ilana Prinsloo – 42 points oco

Third: Nelis van Dyk and Zane Coleman – 42 points

Best Individual Score: Frank Carrazon – 37 points

Best Team: Stormers – 121 points

Nearest the pin (eighth hole): Jose Carrazon

Nearest the pin (12th hole): Shirley van Wyk

According to Kotze, the singles knockout round is going according to schedule and players are requested to keep this up and arrange their game timeously so they can complete the competition on time.

“Our handicap league team is up against Ebotse this Saturday and we wish them all the best as they are doing very well so far this year,” says Kotze.

Kotze asks the Springs community to please support the Joker Draw every Friday, Happy Hour from 5pm to 6pm and try their luck at the jackpot.

Light meals will also be available.

“We wish Delano Kotzé all the best as he returns to the US this week for another six months.

“He will be competing in various tournaments, including the prestigious US Amateur Championship.

“He will also be playing in some of the qualifying school events for acceptance into the Web.com Tour,” says Kotze.
