Nicholas Klinkenberg (82) from Presidentia has gone without hot water for the past eight months.

Presidentia is a municipal housing project and Nicholas has been living there for the past five years.

He lives alone.

Nicholas suffers from stomach cancer and this requires him to bath twice a day in salt to avoid infections.

In the past eight months, Nicholas has lost 22kg due to his illness which causes loss of appetite and bleeding.

Storm leaves family in Toekoms with no hot water

With winter fast approaching, Nicholas’ situation will become dangerously more desperate if nothing is done.

According to Nicholas, the solar geyser on the roof does not heat up enough water to fill a bath tub, and the electric heater is broken.

Nicholas says he has gone to the metro office at least once a week for the past eight months only for them to tell him that the solar geyser should be sufficient enough.

“How can someone be allowed to suffer like this?” says Nicholas.

An inquiry has been sent to the metro.
