EMPD arrests 56 during roadblocks

From December 14 to 17, the EMPD Etwatwa and Duduza precincts conducted static and roving roadblocks in conjunction with the SAPS members in the two areas.

A total of 56 drivers were apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Friday operation in Daveyton resulted in two arrests.

The police were compelled to stop the operation due to rain and instead conducted high visibility patrols in the area.

On Saturday, the operations yielded 17 arrests at Kopie Motebang and Eisselen streets.

On Sunday, at the intersection of Ndudula and Sonneskraal Streets, 21 drivers were arrested.

The operations on Monday yielded 16 arrests at Nala and Sonneskraal streets.

All 56 arrestees, aged between 25 and 40, were detained at the respective police stations.

They are expected to appear in the Daveyton and Nigel Magistrate’s Courts soon.
