Geduld business looks after the less fortunate all year round

Scheepers says they feed about 60 to 75 people per day and the majority of the people they help are young men between the ages of 17 to 25.

Diesel Electrical Industrial handed out food parcels to the community on Friday morning.

The Geduld-based company does this all year round (through monthly grocery parcels) and this was just one way of making sure people have something to eat.

“We have been doing this for a long time and it came about as a result of the need we saw in the community.

“There was no shelter or feeding scheme going on and we had to do something,” says Llewellyn Scheepers.

The business partners up with other local charities and feeding schemes and together barter goods depending on what each has and needs.

“We also work with Thandabantu and help them with donations and collections and their feeding scheme.

“We rely completely on donations from various people, companies and organisations such as the Chamber of Commerce and we also do our own fund-raising.

“We’re completely stretched out but when we see what we’re achieving, we just keep going.

“Giving is always better than receiving,” says Scheepers.
