The Geduld Epilepsy Centre has been struggling with a sewage problem for over a year now.
The sewage that periodically rises up to the surface is preventing the organisation from planting their vegetable garden.
“It’s very unhealthy for people who are working here.
“The metro initially came and replaced the broken pipe, but the problem still continues.
“Our problem now is that it’s time for planting and we can’t wait forever,” says manager Magdaleen Kruger.
The centre feeds over 250 people each day, including residents and day workers, with the food they grow on site.

The sewage, which runs along the boundary wall of the centre, is also damaging the wall.
Maintenance manager at the centre Brian Seaword says he was told by the metro the problem was down the line at Impala Platinum.
“We have just been getting excuses from the metro,” says Seaword.
The centre says they have not had any other service delivery related problems.
The metro failed to respond in time for publication.
