Bakerton woman stabbed to death in her home

The victim, who was a well-known and well-respected member of the community, died of her injuries.

A Bakerton resident was attacked in her home on Monday morning.

The incident, which has shocked the community of Bakerton, has left residents furious.

The victim, who was a well-known and well-respected member of the community succumbed to her injuries.

The victim’s maid was tied up during the frenzied attack and the motive is unknown.

“It was horrific to see. It is not a nice thing to see.

“To be killed in such a manner, with no mercy for human life.

“It was like something out of a horror movie.

“As the CPF, we would like to offer our condolences to the family,” says Bakerton CPF Chairman Ahmed Chouglay.

Residents in Bakerton are demanding action from the police as they allege that this is not the first incident that has happened in Bakerton.

Ramesh Sheodin says, “This is one of many murders in Bakerton.

“Not one of the previous murderers were arrested and it seems like Indian lives don’t matter.

“This is the only conclusion I can make.

“Visible policing is a necessity and the residents of Bakerton are living in fear.”

Chouglay was also very upset with the response time of the police, the ambulance services and Netcare 911.

“I am very disappointed with the service providers. It took them almost an hour to arrive on the scene.

“The only way we could get an Ekurhuleni ambulance was to phone a friend who works there and ask them to call the ambulance for us,” says Chouglay.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Nicholas Dollman says they are still investigating the matter.

The SAPS and the metro failed to respond in time for publication.
