EMPD Boksburg K9 Unit treats Epilepsy SA Daggafontein Centre residents to dog obedience display

The day was part of the centres fundraising efforts.

The Epilepsy South Africa Daggafontein Centre celebrated Takkie Tax Day with a day of fun.

They were treated to a dog obedience display by the EMPD Boksburg K9 unit.

Residents were awed as they observed the canine members of the EMPD demonstrate their skills as they searched for dagga, looked for explosives and brought down ‘thieves’.

“The Takkie Tax Day forms part of our fund-raising efforts as all registered non-profit organisations get a certain percentage of the sales they made.

“We invited the dog unit to demonstrate what they do because our people are frail and we thought they would feel safer if they knew how they are protected.

“It was a really fun day for all of us here as they had aerobics and dancing,” says the centre manager, Audrey Mthimkhulu.

The centre will also have an event on June 15 to commemorate Youth Day.
