Mothers get pampered after winning Mother’s Day competition

Four lucky mothers were pampered at Inferno Hair Studio in Springs on Friday.

This came after HomeCorp hosted a competition asking women to enter their mothers into a Facebook Mother’s Day competition.

The Mother’s Day makeover day at Inferno Hair Studio was enjoyed by all. East Rand Stereo broadcast live on the day, with HomeCorp making everything possible for the four mothers.

The competition rules were that women must comment on what makes their mother special and their mother must be tagged in the post.

The pamper day was valued at around R2 000 per winner.

Owner of Inferno Sonja Claassen says the studio has been in town for 12 years and she has been in the hair industry for 22 years.

Sonja says HomeCorp made the makeovers of the four women financially possible and expresses her joy to be part of this initiative.

Lynette Cilliers, marketing executive at HomeCorp, says the initiative began when HomeCorp started getting involved in various programmes.

“Sonja is my hairdresser and that’s one of the main reasons the winners were pampered here,” she says.

Lynette adds that the company is involved in many scholastic programmes with schools such as Hoërskool Hugenote, WK du Plessis and many others.

“We donated WK du Plessis School’s matric jackets, just one of the many things we enjoy doing for the community, and this Mother’s Day presented us with a great opportunity to spoil moms.”

Karen Augusta, East Rand Stereo radio personality and make-up artist, spoiled the winners by applying stunning make-up.

The women were giddy with excitement in making this the perfect day for the winning moms.

Annetjie Viljoen from Brakpan was one of the lucky four winners.

She says her daughter, Angelique Olsen, entered her into the competition and she was very excited to have won.

Another winner, 79-year-old Hester Pelser from Springs, was pampered to the nines while getting her hair washed and head massaged and an amazing-looking hand massage.

Her daughter, Christa Engelbrecht, entered her into the competition.

“It’s so nice to finally be a winner. You never win anything these days.”

Annamarie Diedericks from Brakpan was also a winner.

Fourth winner Taai van Wyk from Brenthurst says her daughter, Rika Coetzee, entered her into the competition.

“I will never forget the day they phoned me and told me I won. I cried so much,” she says.

“I immediately phoned my daughter and asked her if this was her doing and she said ‘yes’. I cried even harder.”

Taai says she has never won anything in her life and describes the feeling as amazing.

“My daughter felt horrible on Mother’s Day as she didn’t have enough money to buy me a gift, so she made me something.

“She felt very bad because my other children bought me gifts and she couldn’t and then, two days later, she gives me this amazing gift,” says an emotional Taai.

She adds that she didn’t have any transport to get to the salon, so Lynette went and fetched her at her house.

“I am so grateful.”
