R2-million allegedly stolen from council

Apparently, there is no money to buy fuel to cut grass in Springs.

An anonymous source has tipped off The Addie that R2-million was stolen from council.

The source alleges the hefty sum was pinched recently and the metro now has no money to buy fuel for the grass cutters.

One of the places that are experiencing the effects of the alleged theft is Dersley, where the grass in Main Reef Road has grown ankle high.

“The grass here has not been cut for months.

“It is dangerous because you cannot see the cars coming up the road.

“People have also started dumping their rubbish here illegally because of the long grass,” says ward councillor Ramesh Sheodin.
