School search hailed a success

Springs police conducted a school search at WK du Plessis School on Wednesday from 8am to 11am.

The spokesperson for the Springs police, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says the purpose of the school search was to prevent the use of drugs and to create awareness of bullying and robberies.

“The school search yielded good results and items from various students were confiscated.”

Police confiscated boxes of cigarettes, a knife, lighters, boxes of matches and a bottle used to smoke dagga.

The Social Crime Prevention Unit, Springs SAPS sector managers and Visible Policing (Vispol) members were part of the search.

The operation was led by the sector manager namely warrant officer Wynand du Toit.

“The school was identified as a problematic school and action was taken,” says Ramphora.

Station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe thanks all members involved for protecting the school environment.

The school principal and staff were thrilled about the police presence and they emphasised the good relationship and partnership between the police and the Department of Education.
