LastManStands cricket continues at Olympia Park Stadium

Gemengde Bende beats Jolly Brothers by four runs at Olympia Park Stadium

In the only game of the weekend in LastManStands, the Gemengde Bende beat Jolly Brothers by four runs at the Olympia Park Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Gemengde Bende batted first and scored 119 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, the Jolly Brothers posted a score of 115 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.

Initially, it looked as though the Jolly Brothers would have no problem chasing down the score, but a few spells of excellent bowling by the Gemengde Bende slowed down the run rate and in the end they just could not make that final push.

The highest run scorer of the day was Morné Jonker from the Jolly Brothers who scored a half-century.

The narrow loss for the Jolly Brothers was disappointing and they will look to bounce back next week.

Gemengde Bende can be pleased with their performance during this match.

When it mattered the most, they did not choke and their fielding must be commended as they kept it tight and stopped what could have been a few singles.

LastManStands will continue next weekend.

Matches take place at the Olympia Park Stadium and start at 8am.

Entrance is free.
