Selcourt couple at home when robbers strike during day

A barking dog alerted a man to a robbery in progress in his home at 3.45pm in Selcourt.

The victim and his wife were at home when the man went to investigate the cause of the barking dog.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesperson for the Springs police says as the man approached the open front door, he was confronted by a suspect who pointed a silver firearm at him.

“The man told the suspect to take what he wants when his wife came to see what was happening and was also held at gunpoint,” says Ramphora.

Two more suspects arrived and took the pair to the spare bedroom.

The suspects stripped them of their jewellery and took a TV, cellphones, iPad, wrist watch and R500 cash.

“The suspects gained entry into the yard by jumping over the wall,” he says.

A case of house robbery was opened at the Springs Police Station.
