Husband and wife hijacked in front of their Springs home

Returning home on Saturday evening, a couple was hijacked and robbed outside their Strubenvale home.

A husband and wife were hijacked in their driveway in Strubenvale on Saturday around 9.30pm.

Capt Johannes Ramphora says the driver parked the Honda Civic in the driveway in front of their house to open the gate.

“The husband went to open the gate, leaving the car idling with his wife inside,” he says.

While he was busy opening the gate, two white cars stopped behind their vehicle and one suspect jumped out from each vehicle.

“One of the suspects was armed with a firearm and pointed it at the victim at the gate and ordered him to raise his hands in the air.”

The victim’s wife exited the vehicle, holding her handbag and the other suspect ran to her and took her bag.

The two suspects got into the victims’ vehicle and drove off after the white vehicles.

A case of hijacking was opened at the Springs Police Station.
