Woman loses handbag to mall con artists

A woman was robbed of her handbag and its contents when shopping at a home decoration store in Springs Mall.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesperson for the Springs police, the woman was looking to buy bedding for her home when she was approached by another woman.

“The woman told her she knows the manager of the store who can sell her the bedding at staff price,” Ramphora says.

A second woman then approached and introduced herself as the manager.

The complainant was allegedly told to wait outside, where she was told the manager would bring her the bedding.

While waiting outside, she suddenly noticed that her handbag was missing.

A case of theft was opened at the Springs Police Station.
