‘Project Bottled Water for Cape Town Initiative’ in Bakerton collects 1 850 litres of water in two days

The Springs Sanathan Ved Dharma Sabha organisation in Bakerton has embarked on a water collection drive for the city of Cape Town.

The drive is called the ‘Project Bottled Water for Cape Town Initiative’ and it forms part of their response in helping the people of Cape Town through the current water crisis.

The drive has collected 1 850 litres of water in two days.

“We as an organisation are always doing community work.

“Last year we did food hampers for people living in squatter camps.

“This year we decided to do this because of the situation in Cape Town.

“The response from the community has been excellent.

“We will have other projects during the year.

“This is only for this month,” says Ritasha Singh, a member of the organisation.

The project will continue until February 9.

People who wish to donate water can drop it off at the Shree Vishnu Mandir Temple on 67 Honeysuckle Drive in Bakerton.

The Gift of the Givers will distribute the water once it is in Cape Town.
