Dal Fouche residents have been continuously struggling with water problems for the past five years.
Jacques Botha, who lives in Dal Fouche, says the residents have had enough.
“The water pressure is constantly low and you have next to no water,” he says.
“We have repeatedly contacted the Ekurhuleni Metro to assist and sort the problem out, but they usually ignore us until we make enough noise, then they do a quick fix, but the problems always just comes back.”

Botha says the issue never gets resolved and they always get different answers from the metro.
“The water pressure is so low throughout the week that you cannot even take a shower, or the bathtub takes hours to fill.”
Another issue the residents are concerned about is contamination of the water and rust in the pipes.

“We don’t even drink tap water any more, we have to boil and store it or buy it from the store,” says Botha.
“It really isn’t fair as this is a basic human right, but the metro couldn’t care less.”
The residents are fed up with the metro’s apparent lack of concern and are considering further options.
On Saturday, when the Addie visited Botha, metro workers were seen in Mopanie Road working on water pipes.
Digging a large hole filled with water and mud, it is assumed the metro workers were attempting to repair a pipe, although this has not been confirmed.
Residents have raised their concerns on a WhatsApp group about water running down the street from this hole.
The metro failed to comment at the time of going to print, but the matter will be pursued and answers given to the community as soon as comment is received from them.
