Office of the Chief Whip partners with NMSEP to produce better matric results.

ANC Chief Whip in Ekurhuleni Jongizizwe Dlabathi is encouraged by the positive outcome of the partnership forged between his office and the Ntsane Masiloane School Enrichment Programme (NMSEP).

Addressing learners on their first day back at Tlakula Secondary School on Wednesday (January 17), Clr Dlabathi said a total of 97 learners on the NMSEP programme passed their matric exams, achieving 17 bachelor’s, 56 diploma and 24 higher certificate passes between them.

Last year, as part of the programme, the Office of the Chief Whip adopted 90 learners across Ekurhuleni, with 30 being from Tlakula Secondary.

The learners were assisted in maths, accounting and science.

“Our commitment to education is a standing commitment, such inspires us to double our efforts,” Dlabathi says.

He encouraged this year’s Grade 12 learners to strive for even better results, while appealing to parents to continue supporting their kids.

Meanwhile, the chairperson of the Palesa Ya Sechaba Foundation, Dolly Mokgete, has committed to working closely with the Office of the Chief Whip to help further the objective of improving the education of the country’s future leaders.

The director of NMSEP, Ntsane Masiloane, expressed his gratitude for the partnership.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to join forces with the Office of the Chief Whip,” Masiloane said.

“The sole purpose is to bring about transformation and development in the education of township learners.”

Mayoyo Skosana, one of the learners who participated in programme, achieved five distinctions and will study electrical engineering at the University of Pretoria.

Felicia Rakgabyane, a member of Tlakula Secondary’s school governing body, urged parents to take part in the learning and teaching process at the school.

Support from parents was paramount, Rakgabyane said, adding that learners should also respect their teachers.

Tlakula Secondary School will have its first parents’ meeting on January 24, followed by a meeting for parents and Grade 12 learners on January 27.
