Partygoers robbed at gunpoint

A friendly get-together went wrong when armed men interrupted a party in Laingsberg Street, Eastvale on Saturday.

A 22-year-old and 12 of his friends were busy socialising when six men, two of them armed with guns, entered the house.

According to Springs police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the friends say it was 10.45pm when they saw the unknown men in the house.

Two of the men pointed firearms at the group and instructed them to lie down on the ground.

“Four of the men started taking electrical appliances from the house and took all the cellphones,” says Ramphora.

The men loaded the stolen goods into one of the friends’ vehicles, a Mercedes-Benz C240, and drove off.

Ramphora says one of the group managed to see the other vehicle, a blue VW Polo.

Police are investigating a case of house robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.
