Rus ‘n Bietjie to host a fête

Rus ’n Bietjie Old Age Home invites the public to its fund-raising fête that will take place on October 28 from 9am to 2pm.

To celebrate 40 years of service, Rus ’n Bietjie Old Age Home will be hosting its fundraising fête on October 28, at 33 Sarel Celliers Street, Paul Krugersoord.

The non-profit organisation was founded in 1977 to provide protected accommodation and frail care to the aged.

“Originally when we started we were just an old age home; however, through the many years of service we changed to being a home for the frail and semi-frail care centre,” says Ludwig Zuhlsdorff, manager at Rus ’n Bietjie.

Rus ’n Bietjie has four pillars of service: life rights that is sold to people who are still alive, renting rights for people who are still able to look after themselves, frail care for elderly or senior citizen who need nursing assistance and the Everest crèche.

The aim of the fête is to raise funds for the old age home’s monthly needs.

“We have approximately 80 to 85 residents living in the self-catering houses; however, that money is not enough to meet our monthly expenses.

“We are hoping that the fête will at least put us halfway through to our financial needs,” says Zuhlsdorff.

Home-made eats and treats are set to make the fête as busy as ever, as will entertainment to keep the little ones busy.

“People can also enter our raffle to stand a chance to win a few hampers.”

All proceeds on the day will support Rus ’n Bietjie.
