Woman’s boyfriend arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting girl (7)

A minor (7) was allegedly sexually assaulted by her mother's boyfriend.

On Sunday, a man allegedly sexually assaulted a minor at Skoonplaas Informal Settlement.

A mother had allegedly left her two minor children, aged two and seven years, unattended at her shack at 12pm, to visit a tavern.

According to Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the woman found her boyfriend at one of the taverns and asked for a lock for her shack.

“She told her boyfriend the children were alone at home and left to visit another tavern,” he says.

When she returned to her shack at 3am, she found her daughter crying.

Ramphora says the child informed her mother that the mother’s boyfriend had sexually assaulted her.

The woman called the police, who traced the suspect (age unknown) and arrested him on Sunday morning.

Ramphora says the child, accompanied by her mother, was taken to a doctor to be examined.

The suspect was taken to the Springs police cells, where he will remain until his court appearance.
