Hennie Louw has been complaining about the garbage being dumped in the area opposite his shop in Seventh Street, CBD for weeks.
He has reported the matter to the metro, but has since not seen any metro workers cleaning the area.
“Soon it will be a massive pile of garbage which is growing daily,” he says.
Furthermore it is causing an infestation of rats.
This could also create a health hazard for food stalls which are in close proximity.
The area is frequented by vagrants who contribute to the littering in the area.
He claims informal recyclers were also seen searching for recyclable material.
He requested the metro to attend to this matter urgently as it could contribute towards the further littering and downgrading of the town.
The metro has been informed of the situation, but failed to comment at the time of publishing.
