UPDATE: Accused appears in court after woman dies from gunshot wound to head

Woman dies the morning after being shot in the head at a restaurant in Sharon Park.

A 64-year-old man appeared in the Nigel Magistrates Court today (Thirsday) after allegedly shooting his girlfriend at a restaurant in Sharon Park on Tuesday evening.

The case was postponed to September 15 for a bail application, and the man remains in custody at Nigel Prison.

He is accused of murder, after his girlfriend died on Wednesday morning, as well as possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

According to Dunnottar police spokesperson Tommy Tomlinson, the woman (64) was allegedly shot, at close range, after an argument between her and the accused.

The woman was shot in the head between 10pm and 11pm.

Tomlinson received a phone call from the deceased’s daughter shortly after the incident took place.

When police arrived on the scene they found the deceased with a bullet wound to the side of her face.

Paramedics treated the woman on the scene and transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“The woman died on Wednesday morning,” says Tomlinson.

The deceased was the co-owner of the restaurant.

Police are investigating a case of murder.
