Father watches suspect shoot his son

Suspects shoot victim's son during house robbery.

A Bakerton resident was shot in his left shoulder during a house robbery in Blossom Street on Thursday.

The resident’s father was surprised by three suspects, who were wearing balaclavas, in the house at 4.30am.

The suspects, one armed with a pellet gun, pushed the man into his bedroom and ordered his son and wife to join him.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, SAPS spokesperson, says the suspects demanded cash.

When the family informed the suspects they don’t have any money in the house, one suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the son in his left shoulder.

“The house was turned upside down while the suspects were looking for money,” says Ramphora.

A plasma TV was taken when the suspects couldn’t find any cash.

They fled the scene on foot.

An ambulance was called and the man’s son was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

SAPS are investigating a case of house robbery.
