Domestic worker attempts to flee four house robbers in Selcourt

An armed suspect chased after a domestic worker when she tried to escape.

A domestic worker tried to escape from a property in Watende Road, Selcourt, during a house robbery on Tuesday but was caught by one of the suspects and forced back into the house.

According to SAPS spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the woman ran out of the back door of the house when she heard a loud bang against another door.

A suspect chased her and caught up with her when she fell at the gate.

“She was taken back to the house where she was met by three more suspects,” says Ramphora.

Electrical appliances were taken from the house and the suspects fled through the dining room door, which they had forced open with a crowbar to gain entry.

They fled the scene in a white Nissan NP200.

Ramphora says CCTV footage was made available to the police and a case of house robbery is being investigated.
