Armed robbery: expensive liquor stolen in Selection Park

Three suspects grab cash, cellphones and alcohol.

A Selection Park liquor store was robbed of cash, alcohol and two cellphones.

On Thursday, the shop owner saw his brother enter the shop with his hands on his head at 6.30pm.

Capt Johannes Ramphora spokesperson for the Springs police, says the owner’s brother was accompanied by an unknown armed man.

The suspect pointed his firearm at the owner and ordered him to lie down on the ground.

“Within minutes two men entered the liquor store and walked to the liquor cabinet where the expensive alcohol was kept,” says Ramphora.

The second suspect allegedly broke the glass to the cabinet, while the third suspect took the owner’s wife to the till.

“The three suspects took R5 000 in cash, expensive alcohol and two cellphones before they ran away,” he says.

The suspects fled the scene on foot.

“There is very clear video footage of the robbery which will help us in our investigation,” says Ramphora.
