Woman grabs son from hijacked vehicle in Pollak Park

Woman's vehicle stolen while waiting for a worker.

Hijackers held a woman up and took her vehicle outside Springs Old Boys Club in Gilgil Street, Pollak Park, last Wednesday, at about 8pm.

The woman and her eight-year-old son were waiting in her Ford Fiesta for someone from the club whom she was giving a lift home to.

“Two suspects, one armed with a silver pistol, approached her,” says Capt Johannes Ramphora, the Springs SAPS spokesperson.

They demanded her car keys and when one of the suspects got into the vehicle, the woman grabbed her son from the car.

Ramphora says the Fiesta was fitted with a tracking device but it has not yet been traced.

The woman’s handbag, containing a cellphone, bank cards and R800 in cash, was in the vehicle.

“She claims the suspects spoke English to each other,” says Ramphora.

The police are investigating a case of hijacking.
