New human trafficking suspect appears in Springs court

A third suspect who was arrested on Friday also appeared in the Springs Magistrate‘s Court

Two of the people arrested on May 24 in connection with a human trafficking sex den appeared in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

This comes after 17 people were arrested in a raid on a house in Third Street, on May 24.

On May 29 only five of these suspects appeared in court to face charges.

The other 12 were released without being charged due to a lack of evidence against them.

On Tuesday three of the remaining five were released without being charged.

An additional suspect, a man, was arrested on Friday and also appeared in court on Tuesday.

Judge Daphne van Vuuren postponed the case to June 13 for further investigation.

Accused one and two are the only remaining suspects of the group of 17.

The police arrested them in connection, and will be charged, with alleged sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

The third suspect will also be charged with sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

The three suspects will remain in custody at Modderbee Prison until their next court appearance.
