Wheels in the Sky Rock Fest

The biker club, Wheels in the Sky, held their rock festival at the Springs Rugby Club on Saturday.

This “day jol” is held annually by the club around this time of year and usually draws hundreds of people, according to the club’s president Vettie van Loggerenberg.

He also extended his thanks to Boeta Moody, of the Springs Rugby Club, for hosting the day.

“Despite the weather conditions, it was a successful day and the club members assisted us with their presence to make the event a success,” he says.

This event was open to the public who could enjoy two live bands who played throughout the day at the festival.

Pan’s Kilt and Anubis entertained the crowd with their live music of various genres.

Vettie says they always donate a portion of the funds to a charity of their choice.

“We have a meeting to decide which charity it will go to this time around,” he says.

Various trophies were handed over to members of other bike clubs who supported the event.

Biggest Club Attendance trophy was handed over to Mac’s Biker Club by Jan Dry, leader of East Rand Wheels in the Sky.

Best Custom Bike trophy went to Gert Vermaak and his brother Jaun Vermaak received the Best Bike on Site trophy.

The lucky draw prize was sponsored a Nuffield business owner who donated a voucher for a bike battery.

“We look forward to next year’s event,” adds Vettie.
