Man assaulted with bricks in CBD

While conducting routine patrols at 9pm on May 8, police were flagged down by the owner of the Springs Hotel who told them a man was being assaulted in First Street, in the CBD.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the officers were directed to where the assault took place and there they found a man lying in the street, unconscious.

The hotel owner says he went to investigate when he heard screaming outside the hotel.

“The victim had been assaulted with bricks and his face was severely swollen and full of blood,” says Ramphora.

Paramedics took the victim to a nearby hospital.

His name and age are unknown.

“We urge the community to come forward with information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits who assaulted this man,” says Ramphora.
