Everest resident dies after being stabbed by group of men

Sfiso Simelane was stabbed several times by a group of men and died on Sunday.

According to SAPS spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the deceased (age unknown) was drinking at his home in Phumlani Street, Everest Informal Settlement at 9.30pm.

A group of men allegedly arrived at the house and started an argument.

“The deceased’s girlfriend asked him to leave the house and as he left the house, one of the men from the group started stabbing the deceased with a knife,” he says.

The group then started stabbing the deceased with knives as well.

Ramphora says the deceased’s girlfriend ran away and when she later returned to their home, she found the deceased to be alive.

She called for an ambulance and Simelane was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“The police were informed that Simelane died shortly after being admitted to hospital,” says Ramphora.

The reason for the stabbing is unknown and police are investigating a case of murder.
