Support National Tekkie Tax Day
Happy, the Tekkie Tax mascot, will visit Vita Nova Centre on National Tekkie Tax Day, on May 26.
This year’s theme is ‘Protecting the Vulnerable”.
There are 12 national beneficiaries involved in the Tekkie Tax project, which represents more than 1 000 welfare organisations.
Vita Nova Centre’s assistant director, Marina Potgieter, says they will host a colouring-in competition for age groups two to four years, five to eight years and nine to 12 years.

“Each entrant needs to buy a sticker at the centre where they will also get the picture to colour in,” she says.
The competition closes on May 22 and the winners will be contacted on May 31.

The National Tekkie Tax day is one day of the year when you can swap your high heels, work shoes and school shoes for your favourite comfy pair of tekkies.
To participate in this project, contact your nearest welfare organisation, Epilepsy SA, in Daggafontein or Geduld, or CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation) and get a pair of funky Tekkie Tax shoelaces and a sticker.

“We are full of fun and games but underneath it all are some very serious issues, all of them relating to ‘Protecting the Vulnerable’,” says Annelise de Jager, Tekkie Tax founder and patron.
