Metro’s job in Dersley not completed

Dersley residents are concerned about the unfinished work of the metro in Mercury Avenue, Dersley.

Resident Louis van Niekerk (59) says the metro recently fixed a water leak on the corner of Mercury and Quartz avenues and never completed the work.

He says they are extremely disappointed that the metro closed the hole with gravel and two dried-out sticks.

“If you don’t know the area, this corner can be very dangerous and cause serious damage to your vehicle,“ says van Niekerk.

According to Dersley Community Police Forum (CPF) members patrolling the area after hours, the area is dark as because there are no working street lights.

“It is in the interest of the community and road users that the municipality finish what they started.

“If it is metro contract workers who fixed the water leak and left the job unfinished, the metro needs to follow up on their contractor’s work,” says van Niekerk.
