Young golfing talent benefits from fundraiser

A fundraiser was held at the Springs Country Club on Friday for less privileged children who want to play golf.

Johannes Geldenhuys, who formed the Johannes Geldenhuys Golf Academy to introduce juniors to and teach them golf, says they have now formed a trust for children they have identified in the club and the academy and other future golfers who want to play golf but do not necessarily have the funds needed to play.

“All the funds raised on Friday will go into this trust towards less privileged children,” he says.

Around 90 golfers supported the fundraiser.

“I want to thank all of the sponsors who are involved in this initiative as well as the people in the academy,” says Johannes.

“Most of all, thank you to the Springs Country Club, its personnel and the committee members for their assistance and help.”

In first place are Hennie Terblanche and Johan Taute with 52 points.

Ria Joubert and Nel Browning took second place with 49 points and Stefan Engelbrecht and Cavin Swanepoel came in third place with 48 points.

“We think that, considering the economy and such, the day was a major success,” says Johannes.
