Tuck shop robbed of goods worth R6 000 and asylum paper

A tuck shop owner was confronted with the nozzle of a gun when he was closing up shop in Slovo Park on Sunday at 8.30pm.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the unknown man ordered the complainant to open the shop.

“The tuck shop owner said that the shop was closed and then noticed two more suspects, one of which was carrying a five-pound hammer who started breaking the door,” says Ramphora.

The owner was with two of his shop assistants when the suspects managed to break through the door.

“One of the assistants and the owner were shoved to the floor while the other assistant escaped through the back door.

“An armed suspect pointed a firearm at the owner and assistant while the other suspects scavenged the shop.”

Cash to the amount of R3 000, airtime of R1 300, two cellphones as well as one asylum document were stolen.

“As the suspects left, the one armed with a firearm fired two shots just outside the door of the shop.

“Two cartridges were found four houses away from the shop.”

The police are investigating a case of business robbery.
