Potholes: fix, don’t patch

Residents who travel on Ermelo Road are unhappy about potholes not being fixed by the metro.

Spokesman for the metro, Themba Gadebe, recently commented on a previous query on potholes that the metro fixes potholes as they are reported.

But, says Casseldale resident Magda Pretorius, “Ermelo potholes require proper repairs and not patchwork.”

She uses Ermelo Road frequently during her travels and feels that it has been left too long without repairs.

“The patchwork doesn’t last long because surface preparations are not conducted properly by the metro or their contractors,” she says.

Gadebe reported in September that the roads department does regular maintenance of the town’s roads.

“However, if this was the case, then why are there so many potholes in Springs?” asks Pretorius.

To report potholes contact the metro call centre on 086 054 3000.
